DANCE DAY TOMORROW!!!

Well, tomorrow it all comes to fruition (that means its going to be happening).

I'm so proud of you all and I am really nervous for us. You have put in soo much rehersals and passion. This has been a great term with a even more fantastic 'Inquiry study' on dance.

You guys are more than ready and I look forward to filming it and hopefully releasing it onto 'YOUTUBE' for the world to see.

Sleep well guys and we'll see you all tomorrow on DANCE DAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Homework for week 10

Hi guys,

I'm not expecting too much from you this week as we have a lot of preparation and relaxation needed before our Dance Day performance.

Your word of the week is : "glimpse"

Not too tricky, but try hard to put it into a sentence.

Spelling and reading should still be going this week also.

Reading Day 10th September 2009

THANKS TO ALL THE PARENTS THAT CAME TO OUR SCHOOL ON READING DAY (10TH SEPT). IT WAS GREAT TO HEAR ABOUT YOUR JOBS AND OTHER STORIES.

WE, THE BACK TO baSIX TEAM APPRECIATE YOUR SUPPORT.

The Great Apanui Race Nite

Mark OCTOBER 30 into your calendar.

Its time to bring those 'GEE-GEEs' out from the pasture and put them into the starting gates.

The Great Apanui Race Nite has always proven to be a great night for all in attendance.
We would like to see those numbers doubled this year as the rivalry begins between the racing circuits.

This is a fun, interactive, TACTILE night that will have you laughing and possibly 'galloping' home with a prize.

This night will NOT dissapoint.

OCTOBER 30 (MARK YOUR DIARIES NOW!!!)

**NB*** This is not a TAB racing night. We use no live horses nor do we watch them on a screen. The only animals present will be Brian Robinson and his racing foe the Board of Trustees.

The GREAT Cleanup Whakatane campaign

Today saw many Apanui School children heading for popular spots in Whakatane with the intention to 'Cleanup'.

Donned with gloves and a bag, the children attacked the litter with pride and enthusiasm.

Whakatane is a better place because of their efforts.

WATCH THIS SPACE FOR THE PICS OF ROOM 2 AND 6 AT TODAYS CLEANUP

Michael Jackson Lives

A big thanks to Elisa from Room 9's Mum for the great picture she sent to me of Michael Jackson.
I don't know about you, but he's rather photogenic.

Story Maker enthusiasm 'on high'

Here we see Taylah sharing her Story Maker books that she made at her Grandmas house.

Just like a teacher, Taylah read her stories to the class. As the pictures show, the children loved them and were captivated from start to finish.

Thanks for sharing Taylah.

Reading Day 10th September

This picture is a Guided silent reading group engaged in a text.
Remember that next week is New Zealand 'Reading Week'.

Apanui will be celebrating with an open 'afternoon'.

Back to baSIX would like to extend an invitation to families to bring in your favourite childrens story to read to the class (only if you wish to). Perhaps you have a job that has a uniform that you could wear to school.

The point is to celebrate reading, and the telling of stories through texts or even memories.

Room 6 is open to you from 1.30pm till 2.50pm on thursday 10th September.

Farewell to a member of Back to baSIX

It is with sadness that the Back to baSIX team have to say goodbye to one of our own.

Jason has been with us since the beginning of term 3, but has blended in as if he had been here much longer.

We wish Jason and his family the very best in the land of 'OZ' and hope that he will drop us a line on the blog to let us know how he is doing.
