Room 6 'Volcano' Cameos

A Fiery Goodnight

Rocks rolling and falling in pots of lava.
Melting like a plastic bottle.
Hot oceans bubbling and boiling.
Scared people running for safety.
Houses burning.
Trees falling.
Black sky of ash.
Dribbling lava rushing along like hot red tomato sauce.

The Fiery Volcano

A big blow of rocks like toys shooting through the sky. "AAAHHH" went the hot toys. They fall through the air making little bombs on the ground, little thin bombs.
Dribbling down, the lava makes a tornado around the hot mountain.
The big blow of rock toys came out of a little hole. The rocks went through the hole.
A big pot of lava smashes the trees. The houses and the leaves of trees fly through the air. The
lava races down the mountain.
"BANG" went the lava.

Volcano

A puff of ash shot down from the sapphire blue sky covering the soft white sheets like a burnt marshmellow. Over the edge, your tomato sauce duvet flows. Ruapehu's electric blanket is on full.

Fiery Goodnight

A pillow of ash shooting down from the baby blue sky covering a duvet made of fluffy white snow.
Over the edge, your lava blanket flows.
Ruapehu's hot tomato sauce is on the move.

Homework for Week 6

Hi guys,

Your word of the week is: 'termite'.

I'm sure you'll enjoy 'biting' into this one and learning about this pest.

QUOTE FOR THE WEEK:

"You are what you believe"

This means that you need to give yourself credit. If you want to succeed, then start believing that you can succeed. But it also means that you need to work hard to get what you want.
I believe in all of you and applaud the Back to baSIX team for all of their hard work!!

A 'TOUCH' of class

Well the new 2009 interschool Touch season commenced with a bang last night at Apanui School. Although parking became a juggle, all went well and everyone had a great time and enjoyed a 'yummy' sausage care of the Apanui School leaders. (Raising money for a trip to White Island).

As seen in the photo above, Mr T is busy mowing the lawns in preparation for the Touch season.

Good on you Mr T!!

"Whats with the tongue?"

Homework clearup

There has been some confusion over this weeks word of the week.

The word was : influx

All words that are decided upon for the week are taken from the classroom dictionaries. That way the children are able to get the meanings while at school (if need be).

My Holidays

In my holidays we went to the beach.
We walked to the wet sand.
My Dad put down the telescope.
Mum took a photo of us smiling, then Mum
gave me the camera and I walked over to the telescope.
I looked in and I saw Mr Reade! 'CLICK'

This story is about Thomas and his family going to the beach. Thomas saw Mr Reade on the White Island Boat.

School Photos

Well, it has been a wet ans wild day at Apanui School today.
We have had our class photos taken and it looks to be a real nice one too!!
I (Mr Reade) even wore a tie for a change.
All of the kids assured me that they put on their best smile. (Everyone was in the correct uniform too!!)
We had 3 people away today sadly but 'the show had to go on'.

Can you guess this staff member? Answer is...Mr Robinson

Should 'AGE' be based on perspective only?

We have asked the children to guess the combined ages of the 4 male staff members at Apanui School. This prompted a rather interesting debate on the age of the two 'more mature' members of staff; Mr Robinson and Mr Holden. We have constructed some polls to show what age these two men may be. Have a look at the results or try the poll yourself.

HAPPY MATHS WEEK EVERYONE!!!

Homework for week 3

Hi guys, I'm sorry for the delay in putting up your homework on our blog. As you may be aware I have been pretty sick this week and have not been using my computer.

The word of the week should have been written into your homework books on Tuesday. For those that did not write it down, the word is"maintain" .

The most important thing is hat you are reading each night and doing your spelling words. I will be testing these on Friday.

***Note to parents***
Please help your child to learn these words in their heads and on paper. This could be by getting them to write the ord in a sentence or finding it 'unassissted' in a dictionary.

Please do not give your child 'extra' words in their spelling books as this can be counter productive to the spelling program that I have in place in class.

Thanks again for all your support
