Queens Birthday

Well, tomorrow will be the Queen's Birthday. Judging by this picture of her Royal Queenliness, she wasn't too pleased with her Royal b'day feast.

Meet the 'Back to baSIX' children

Apanui vs Allandale - Basketball

Allandale put up a galant effort in the interschool basketball game at Apanui today; however it was not enough to topple the mighty reds.

Apanui fought hard today to finish with an outstanding score of 46 points to Allandales 3.
Thanks to all of the Allandale players, teachers and supporters for a great game and we look forward to seeing them on the court again in the future.
Also, kudos to the Apanui teachers for their valued expertise and training that was so evident in the performance of the Apanui team today.

SPCA

Today Apanui School had a visit from an education officer for the SPCA. She came to talk about the prevention of cruelty to animals. Although not all stories have a silver lining, it was very informative and many children said that they were going home tonight to make some positive changes to the wellbeing of their pets.

"I'm going to wash my cats eating bowl"

"I want to give my dog a big hug and tell him I love him"

"I'm going to get Mum and Dad to worm my dog"

These are some of the positive comments coming from team 2 children at the conclusion of the presentation.
Thanks to the SPCA for all of their efforts in looking after animals.

"We appreciate what YOU do!!!"

The Hoedown Throwdown (as seen on Hannah Montana The Movie)

This week, Room Six has been learning the dance to the 'Hoedown Throwdown'. This is a modern form of line dancing and requires a lot of concentration to do. Check out the video of the dance step lessons that Room Six are using to learn the dance.

GAME OF THE WEEK

Your word of the week

Hi kids, your word of the week is 'dreary'.

Make sure you look this word up and find out what it means.

A reminder to you that it is also important that you keep reading each night. If you do not grab a book from the class fluency book box then you need to pick a text/book from home. A failure to do this is only letting yourself and your reading progress down.

See you at school

Guilty as charged

Friday was Apanui Schools day to help raise money for the Rescue Helicopter. We celebrated with a wacky hair day. Mr Reade dressed up as Hannah Montana. Word spread to the local 'bobby' and before long the police were calling into room 6 for a chat with Mr Reade. Handcuffed and shamed, Mr Reade was led away for questioning...NOT!!!

The truth is...we were just lucky to have a visit from Mr Jenkins and his partner.

Kelly Sports Demo Day

On thursday last week, our school was visited by AJ, who works for Kelly Sports. They offer children an opportunity to build fundamental skills in sports. We had a great time.

If you are interested in knowing more about Kelly Sports and what they do, check out their website for more information.

Daffodil

Our school are showing our support for Daffodil Day later this year by planting over 700 daffodil bulbs. These will hopefully grow nicely and we can sell them to raise money for people with cancer.

This is some pictures of room 6 children planting their bulbs.

Photofunia

This is a picture of the parents at camp dressed up for a fashion parade. We have used a new website called 'PHOTOFUNIA' Tell us what you think.

The 'BIG' Move - down the road!

Well, it has been a really busy weekend. I spent my weekend shifting house into a 'slightly' bigger house with an extra room. We were very lucky that Saturday didn't rain until later in the day as we got the last load delivered before the heavens opened and the rain fell. I hope you have all had a great weekend. See you on Monday.
